Shib 2.0 Session Details and pre-training assignments

Good Morning,

Again, this email is intended for those who have expressed an interest in attending the Shibboleth 2.0 workgroup at UC Davis on June 11th.

First off, I would like to thank Tom Poage (UC Davis) and Matt Elder (UCSD) for all of their hard work over the last two weeks to compile this information for this workshop.  If you have specific questions regarding any of this content, please contact one of them prior to the training:  Tom P: tfpoage@ucdavis.edu   Matt Elder: m1elder@ucsd.edu

Reminder: In many cases, there are multiple people from a given institution that wish to attend, so in an effort to reduce the number of technical challenges and to improve the group's efficiency, we're asking that each institution work as a team over one system, using a "designated driver" approach.

Below is the information, materials and downloads you will need to review/install prior to arriving on Wednesday, June 11th (training begins at 9am).

1. Review "Identity and Shibboleth 2.0 (Overviews and Definitions)" slides. Optionally review IdP and SP slides.

   https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/ShibInstallFest/Curriculum

2. Verify laptop requirements per http://net.educause.edu/camp082.

3. Download & install VMware Player or Workstation (Linux, Windows), or Fusion (Mac).

    http://www.vmware.com/download/desktop_virtualization.html

4. Ensure you have an ssh client, e.g. PuTTY for Windows

    http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

5. Download, optionally install, a 'hosts' file (UNIX: hosts, DOS: hosts.txt) onto your host platform. On the wiki, click Browse Space > Attachments.

    https://spaces.internet2.edu/spaces/listattachmentsforspace.action?key=ShibInstallFest

6. Download, optionally unzip, the VMware image for the class:

Thank you all for your interest and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Regards,
Hampton
