Meeting Notes

 

  1. ITLC presentation 
    1. 10 minute presentation
    2. appreciated the work that this committee has done
    3. Jerome - they wanted to get our opinion what might be prioritized items for the the ITAC community to work on
      1. future-facing piece
      2. resurfacing agile computing
        1. base standards for shared services
      3. expectations for making sure when the revised IS-3 drops that we have supporting guidance and standards to help - materials available at the right level of detail to get systems built that traces back to the policy
      4. Did announce we were intending having meeting with the CIOs and the Campus ITAC reps
        1. be aware we will be setting up some meetings where we can - those sessions hope to get more info on the individual CIOs expecting and needing and whats on their agenda - come up prioritization
      5. Opportunity for us - minimally can get ITAC reps - chair and co-chair present on ITLC meetings so we can hear first-hand - get exposure to those meetings to the broadest aspects of the ITAC community
    4. request to community - some alignment architecture
      1. achievements that will resonate
      2. start capturing info - where arch is being practiced
      3. grapevine - official architect titles at the campuses - or doing solutions architecture
      4. relevant to the specific CIOs
  2. Zoom testing
    1. one test account
    2. not there yet
    3. direction-ally this is the next platform
    4. impression - 3 months when OP is looking to officially switchover and get to standard platform
    5. allow spin up Zoom accounts for committee bodies - eg ITAC account
    6. agree to run a zoom test for an up-coming meeting 
    7. numbers will switch
    8. Chris - UCSF - pushing to move to Webex - retiring their Readytalk
  3. Upcoming EAAs
    1. event logging - need for time synchornization 90% done with that
      1. could be at the next review - 2 weeks after - for Bo
      2. base standard ++ additional materials and guidance
    2. adoption of the current EAAs - going to current and published
    3. walkthroughs - 30 day review
    4. there will be an IS-3 in December...
      1. revisit what we need to support that
    5. Micheal - getting ready to do SME conversations - few EAAs
      1. one-on-one meetings going forward
  4. UC Trust
    1. no news on the proposal - yet 
    2. plans for the future year - trying to get more service providers involved in the discussion
      1. lopsided conversation - right way to get
      2. maybe get a list going - for solutions
      3. ties into the shared services - how to get that deployed 
  5. ITAC face-2-face
    1. Gartner presentation
      1. Li put up all the content
      2. including the presentation items and the lucid chart ++ More Gartner content
      3. readytalk recording there as well
      4. EA 2020
        1. more of a business architecture - guidance and consulting
        2. not exactly where "We" are right now
        3. where to contrib value as an EA
        4. Different than where we are right now systemwide - aspriational
        5. Don't panic
      5. hard to get alignment if you aren't writing it down...
      6. at UCSF - word getting around sourcing/outsourcing
        1. contract now that has solutions architecture as a line item - cost associated..
        2. worth discussing

  6. A few items from UCSF 
    1. sourcing being done at UCSF - vetted out (1 year) scope
    2. concentrating outsourcing operations jobs - voip/exchange/network/sysadmin
      1. HCL - does work for other healthcare groups
      2. ~100 people - going to effect in Feb - less than >20% IT
      3. HCL agreement is UC-wide
        1. other CIOs looking at the UCSF experience before other folks dip in
        2. wait for a year before jumping in with HCL
      4. Need for solution architects or approach to architecture?
        1. We do have a rate sheet for whats been negotiated
        2. not looking to implement at UCSF - not source position that interface with clients on campus face-2-face
      5. will HCL ask for standards to ahere? or they have a baseline they will bring in?
    3. Good item for reps to discuss in this forum - what is happening
      1. Any help that is needed?

2 Deliverables for Shared Services Architecture Document:

  • Whitepaper format at one level
  • Interactive version for practitioners at another level
  • Not two separate efforts one is distilled from the other

Shared Services Development Framework (SSDF) created/drafted. This effort will be transferred to and leveraged by the Agile Shared Systems Working Group to complete the guideline document.
