ISIS Web Service Error Codes

Warnings

904099

The user's browser IP address has changed from <ip1> to <ip2>.

Remark

This is not a fatal error. It's a warning informing the application that the user browser's IP address has changed from its initial recorded IP address. However, the addresses fall into the security exception list, so the session is OK.

Application should make note of this warning, preferably log it in application log, and let the remainder of session processing continue normally.

Errors

600003

Unknown error occurred while saving session info to store.

Remark

This is a back end engine error. It is extremely unlikely to happen. However, if it should occur, allow the user to re-attempt log in. If it happens repeatedly, contact the IAMUCLA team.

604005

Security Violation: The supplied login ID does not belong to the current session user.

Remark

This is an obsolete/deprecated errror.

[top]

604010

We cannot verify the authenticity of the session. User's ip address has changed since the initial logon. This is a Security Violation and the session has been terminated. For more details on this error please visit https://spaces.ais.ucla.edu/iamucla/ReinstateIPChecking.

Remark

The user's browser IP address has changed from its initially recorded address, and the addresses do not fall into the security white-list. ISIS has terminated the user session.

Since this error can happen to users with legitimate sessions, please follow the Developer's Guide to Handling 604010 Errors to guide the user through work around solutions to minimize impact.

604011

Security Violation: Unable to validate the authenticate ticket string. The ticket may have been modified.

Remark

The ISIS ticket submitted in the web service call isn't syntactically correct. There are several possible causes:

  • The application didn't properly check for presence of the ticket in the browser cookie cache, and is submitting a zero length ticket string.
  • There has been an application error in the handling of the ISIS ticket string.
  • The ticket cookie value was modified by a 3rd party.

In all of these cases, the user session is effectively dead since ISIS cannot retrieve the session state from its store.

605001

Duplicate Session ID. Session creation failed.

Remark

This is an extremely rare condition. If it should happen, prompt the user to re-attempt log in. Problem should most likely go away.

[top]

700001

Remark

This is a catch all web service error. There are a number of conditions that may lead to this error. If it happens, the user session is terminated. Please contact IAMUCLA team.

[top]

702010

No entry found in the access control list store.

Remark

This is a back end engine error. It is extremely unlikely to happen. However, if it should occur, contact the IAMUCLA team.

[top]

704001

Permission Denied. The current security credential does not have permission to perform this operation.

Remark

This means that the application invoking the web service does not have the proper permission to do so. Please contact the IAMUCLA team.

[top]

704002

Application Authentication Failed. The web service consumer's security credential is invalid.

Remark

This message occurs when the application fails to authenticate itself with the ISIS web service. Check the application ID and password. Make sure it's correct.

It is also possible that the application ID has expired. Check with the IAMUCLA team if you believe the application ID/password is correct, and your application is still unable to authenticate.
